WHO THIS IS FOR

Anyone 13 or older who has never written code. If you use AI every day but have no idea how it works — or have never touched it and want to start somewhere real — this is built for you. Curiosity is the only prerequisite.

Teenagers and adults learn side by side, and the mix works. We don't split students into fast and slow tracks; everyone gets the same project brief, with stretch goals for anyone who wants to push further.

HOW IT WORKS

One live class, taught by a real instructor, with help on hand while you build.

One Live Class

Everyone learns together in the same live session, taught by the lead instructor. Same time, same room, every week — no juggling schedules or chasing a section.

Weekly Live Session

Roughly 75 minutes: a short lesson, a long stretch of hands-on build time, then demos. Most of the session is students building, not watching.

Everything Recorded

The teaching block is recorded every week. Miss a session for a game, a recital, or the flu — nobody falls behind permanently.

Runs in the Browser

Nothing to download or install. A Chromebook is enough. Every student's coding environment is identical, so a fix for one is a fix for everyone.

Nobody Gets Stuck

A staffed help channel runs through every session. Ask a question, get an answer without stopping the class — and because every environment is identical, one fix usually solves it for everyone at once.

Demo Night

The semester ends with students presenting what they built to their families. Everybody ships something, and everybody explains it in their own words.

Build Roblox games

We finish the semester in Roblox — designing and coding games you can put in front of real players. Everything from the first three stages is what makes this part possible.

Exact projects shift with each cohort. If a group gets obsessed with something, we chase it.

WHY WE DON'T START WITH AI CODING TOOLS

We could hand students an AI coding agent in week one. They'd produce something impressive by week three — and they wouldn't be able to explain a line of it.

Then it breaks during their demo, and there's nothing to fall back on, because reviewing what an agent wrote requires being able to read code. The middle of this semester exists to buy that ability. By the time we introduce the agent, students can tell when it's wrong — which is the entire skill.

Same tool. Very different outcome depending on when you hand it over.

HOW AI ACCESS WORKS

Students never create an AI account and never hold a key. Every request runs through infrastructure we operate. This matters most for the under-18s in the room, but it applies to everyone.

No consumer AI accounts

Major AI chat products require users to be 18 or older. We don't ask students to sign up for them or work around that. Access comes through our class system instead.

No keys on student machines

Credentials stay on our servers. Nothing sensitive is ever stored on a student's laptop or in a repository they can publish.

Filtering before it reaches the model

Student input passes a moderation check, and a child-safety instruction is attached to every request automatically.

A named adult reviews flagged activity

Not an automated inbox nobody reads. Reviewing the flagged queue is an assigned staff duty with a documented escalation path.

Pseudonymous by default

Students appear upstream as an ID, not a name. The list connecting IDs to real students stays on our server and is never sent to any AI provider.

Conversations are logged

Every exchange is retained under a written retention policy that we share with families before the semester starts. Parents can ask to see their own child's log.

It says it's an AI

Stated plainly in the interface students use, not buried in a syllabus. We also teach it directly in the first session.

Projects aren't public by default

Student apps are password-protected when deployed. Making one openly public requires instructor sign-off.

Enrollment is 13+ and invite-only. For students under 18, a signed parental consent form is required before their first login. Adult students just enrol. All staff and volunteer assistants complete a safeguarding briefing before the first session.

WHAT YOU NEED AT HOME

DEVICE

A Chromebook or any laptop with an up-to-date browser. No gaming rig required.

INTERNET

A connection steady enough for video calls. The heavy work runs on our servers, not the laptop.

CAMERA & MIC

Built-in is fine. Students mostly type questions, but audio helps during demos.

If your student will attend on a school-managed device

School networks often block the developer tools we use. We send every enrolled family a short checklist to run before the first session, plus the exact list of addresses your district may need to allow. Start that early — district approvals can take weeks.

COMMON QUESTIONS

I've never written a line of code. Is that a problem?

That's the expected starting point, whether you're 14 or 44. The first several sessions involve no typing of code at all, and everything after that is introduced step by step with help available throughout.

Does my child need a ChatGPT or Claude account?

No — and they shouldn't have one. Those products require users to be 18 or older. Students use AI through our class system, which is built for this age group and monitored by us.

Will my child be talking to an AI unsupervised?

No. All AI use runs through our system: filtered before it reaches the model, logged, and reviewed by a named staff member. AI use during the program happens in class, during the live session, with staff present.

Do we have to install anything?

Nothing. Everything runs in the browser, including the professional coding tools we introduce in the final phase. A Chromebook works fine.

What if we miss a week?

The teaching block is recorded every session, and there's dedicated catch-up support. Missing a week is normal and planned for — missing five in a row isn't.

Is there homework? Are they graded?

There are short checkpoint exercises that check themselves automatically, plus peer review. There's no letter grade. The real assessment is demo night — can they show what they built and explain how it works?

I'm an adult. Is this really for me, or is it a kids' class?

It's for you too. The curriculum assumes no prior coding experience, not a particular age. You'll be in the same live session as everyone else.

Is there an age limit?

There's a floor but no ceiling. Enrollment is 13 and up — the tools and safeguards we've built are designed around that age floor, so we can't take under-13s. Above that, all ages are welcome, and adults make up a real share of every cohort.
